Thought of Rayus’s back story… how he’s related to the line of Solara. :D Yey! Thought it would make an interesting myth of why the desert sand in Pancaea was gold or white. XD
Here's a draft of it so far... so happy i was able to write again. ^_^
“This desert had once been a great forest long ago, back in the days when the Phoenix Clan ruled the kingdom.” Rayus started, thinking conversation would keep her from thinking of the heat as they walked. The memory of their talk about the elements had returned to his attention. “The moment this desert came to be marked the ruling clan’s countdown to their fall.”
Kicking up the sand with her feet, she asked, “What happened to all the trees?”
The Flajorciean ignored his reluctance to continue the story. “The story goes that a great fire destroyed the woods one day. It lasted for several days and none of the people around the woods could stop it. In spite of rain and wind, the flames died only a season after from the outer circle. It was only because the people were so determined to extinguish it that they were finally able to. But they weren’t able to save the forest… nothing was left, only ash.”
Seeing the unspoken question on her lips, he went on, “The heir apparent, son of the Phoenix king of the age, was one of the men who had fought the last of the flames. To their surprise, at the center of the ash-black plain, they found a woman with golden hair, ontouched by the violent flames. Records say she was a striking woman of great intelligence and ethereal beauty, who instantly caught the prince’s heart. The long and short of their romance was that they were soon wed, ruling side by side when the prince’s father passed away.
“Several seasons after their fateful meeting, war broke. Pancaea was under attack by Southerners. And on the eve the king set off to fight in the great war, the new queen bore a son. But the king would not live to see his sole heir. He was felled on the battlefield.
“Distraught by this news, the queen fled the palace. Many believe she went in search for her husband’s body. However, the only thing certain was that the people of the Kingdom last saw her one night, running toward the blackened field of ash, her son cradled in her arms. At dawn the very next day, the Pancaeans awoke to an amazing occurrence. Their blackened field had become golden! Hence the name Desert Tial, GoldenDesert.”
Before Lady Loziene could speak, his voice became soft, memories running fleetingly through his mind. “The golden woman’s name had been Solara, the Fire Wish-Granter. Her son was the Phoenix Prince Dei.”
The lady’s voice was a whisper. “The lost prince… Dei.”
